Researchers at UC Irvine, Caltech and USC developed a bidirectional brain-computer interface allowing paralyzed patients to control walking exoskeletons.
Key findings:
- 93% step counting accuracy
- 96% right leg sensation, 84% left leg
- 50-year-old female participant
This is the first BDBCI for walking incorporating bilateral interhemispheric leg sensorimotor brain areas. Future plans include fully implantable version.
