Beijing-based Galaxy General Robot Co., Ltd. (Galbot) has deployed its G1 humanoid robot for daily operations at a FamilyMart convenience store in Zhongguancun, marking the first time an embodied intelligence robot has entered continuous service in a global convenience store chain.
The 173cm-tall G1 robot responds to voice commands to retrieve drinks, snacks, and other items, autonomously handling high-frequency retail tasks. Its AstraBrain system, described as the world's first end-to-end humanoid embodied AI architecture, integrates task planning, motion control, and dexterous manipulation.
"In the past, robots could only perform predefined tasks in structured environments. Now, embodied intelligence robots can adjust strategies in real time. They truly have a brain," the company noted.
This deployment is part of Beijing's 3-year action plan to build an embodied AI ecosystem with international influence by 2027. Beijing is home to 2,500+ AI enterprises with technology contract value approaching 1 trillion yuan ($147.6B) in 2025.
Galbot's retail milestone demonstrates humanoid robots can transition from controlled demos to autonomous commercial operation.
