ATEC2026 Launches Global Real-World Challenge to Test Embodied AI Beyond the Lab

English Version

The ATEC2026 – AI and Robotics Real-World Extreme Challenge officially launched on April 20, 2026, introducing a revolutionary "Turing Test" framework for evaluating robots in dynamic and unstructured real-world environments.

Unlike traditional competitions limited to indoor or scripted tasks, ATEC2026 evaluates whether robots can autonomously complete long-horizon, continuous complex tasks in open, dynamic environments. The competition focuses on three core capabilities: Locomotion, Manipulation, and Environment Modification.

The competition follows a comprehensive "Online Simulation → Real-World Transfer → Real-World Validation" framework. Registration opened April 1 and runs through May 30, 2026, with the Online Qualifier from May 1 to June 30. The Grand Final will be held in Hong Kong in December 2026, featuring natural terrain, stairs, and unstructured obstacles.

With prize pools totaling $340,000 USD and guidance from world-renowned experts including Prof. Yunhui Liu and Prof. Masayoshi Tomizuka, ATEC2026 aims to establish a public verification framework for embodied intelligence, moving from "demonstration feasibility" to "application reliability."
