Colin Angle, the cofounder of iRobot and the visionary behind the Roomba, has unveiled his new company Familiar Machines and Magic and its first robot concept called Familiar, a pet-inspired emotionally-aware home companion. The four-legged robot features a soft touch-sensitive coat and communicates through gestures. Familiar uses onboard AI to read facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language in real time. All AI processing runs on-device with data stored locally. No price or release date has been announced.
