The Beijing Municipal Government Information Office announced the establishment of the Embodied AI Ubiquitous Communications Joint Laboratory during the second press conference for the World Humanoid Robot Games.

Led by the World Humanoid Robot Games Organizing Committee, the lab is jointly established by China Unicom Beijing Branch, Bei'ao Group, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), along with leading industry players including Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, Galbot (银河通用), Xingdong Era (星动纪元), and Accelerated Evolution (加速进化).

The laboratory leverages the industrial resources and practical experience accumulated through Beijing's "One Competition, One Conference" framework for humanoid robotics, integrating China Unicom's ubiquitous communications and computing infrastructure, Bei'ao Group's event operations expertise, and CAICT's think tank and standards-setting capabilities.

Three Core Missions

The lab will focus on three primary functions: public technology services (integrating industry chain resources to reduce enterprise innovation costs), core technology breakthroughs (ultra-low latency communications, multi-device coordination, air-space-ground integrated networks), and industry standards leadership (participating deeply in end-network collaborative standards development).

Two Core Platforms

The laboratory will operate through two major facilities: the China Unicom Future Network Innovation Experimental Base and the National Speed Skating Oval (Beijing Humanoid Robot Training Base). Together, they form an end-to-end verification system covering 5G-A/6G, integrated sensing and communication, cloud-edge-device collaboration, and air-space-ground integrated networks.

Five Technical Systems

The lab will advance five core technology systems: next-generation ubiquitous adaptation communications, swarm intelligence coordination scheduling, end-network collaborative full-stack standards, human-robot collaboration technical assurance, and air-space-ground integrated network adaptation.

China Unicom Beijing Branch stated it will fully open its scientific innovation resources through the laboratory platform, accelerating the formation of a virtuous industry cycle of "technology breakthrough, standards leadership, industrial implementation, and ecosystem prosperity" to support Beijing's development as a global digital economy benchmark city.
