June 2026 Embodied AI Financing Hits H1 High: 36 Rounds, 10 Over 1B Yuan, AI2 Robotics Nears 50B Valuation

China's embodied AI sector rebounded in June with a first-half record 36 disclosed rounds including 10 nine-figure-plus deals; 18 domestic firms now carry unicorn valuations above 10B yuan, even as executives warn commercialization is 2-3 years out.

China's embodied AI and core-component sector staged a sharp rebound in June 2026 after a May lull, posting a first-half record of 36 disclosed financing rounds, of which 10 exceeded RMB 1 billion ($138M), according to Gasgoo Auto News. The numbers cap a torrid first half totalling 171 rounds narrowly defined and 322 rounds worth RMB 93.5 billion (~$12.9B) broadly per IT Juzi.

A double-peak first half

Monthly financing counts for H1 2026 ran 21, 26, 35, 31, 22 and 36 from January through June, with clear peaks in March and June. Thirty-eight rounds crossed RMB 1 billion across the half, over 22% of total disclosed deals. The ten June mega-rounds went to Spirit AI, Astribot, Gigaai, SEAHI ROBOTICS, Lightwheel, Kunlunxing Robotics, AI2 Robotics, ANYVERSE DYNAMICS, AGILINK and DexForce. The largest was AI2 Robotics nearing RMB 50 billion (~$6.9B) - its second mega-round this year after a February Series B exceeding RMB 10 billion.

Valuation ladder

On June 29, X Square Robot and AI2 Robotics both announced valuations crossing RMB 20 billion (~$2.8B); the next day DexForce closed RMB 1 billion Series B to pass RMB 10 billion. Including IPO-track Unitree and DEEP Robotics, 18 domestic embodied AI companies now exceed RMB 10 billion, with seven above RMB 20 billion: Unitree, AI2 Robotics, X Square Robot, Galbot, Xinghai Tu, Spirit AI and Linkerbot. Unitree's STAR Market IPO (raising RMB 4.202B) implies ~RMB 42B (~$5.8B) at minimum 10% float; AgiBot is widely believed to have surpassed RMB 20-30 billion since its last disclosed RMB 15B valuation.

National-team capital and hyper-speed startups

Two structural trends define H1. First is deep participation by state 'national team' funds and industrial capital: AI2 Robotics' latest round spanned national funds, ministries, Greater Bay Area entities, insurers, industrials and financial investors; X Square Robot drew 30+ investors. Per Beihang University's Wang Tianmiao, 30% of new embodied AI unicorns were co-fostered by tech giants and top VC firms, while roughly half of tracked unicorns have state-capital involvement.

Second is the rise of ultra-young startups raising mega-rounds within months of founding: XYZ Embodied AI raised RMB 1B in 10 months; SynapX nearly RMB 1B in three months; Manifold AI completed six rounds in a year with Pre-A totaling ~RMB 1B; Kunlunxing Robotics raised billions within 90 days, passing $1B post-money.

Capital enthusiasm vs commercialization reality

Despite the flood of capital, executives uniformly caution large-scale commercialization remains 2-3 years away. Even Unitree and AgiBot have only just crossed 10,000 cumulative shipments; 2026 humanoid shipments are expected in the tens of thousands, short of 100,000. XYZ founder Liu Dong put the split at 70% reserved cash, 30% initial commercialization. Linkerbot CEO Zhou Yong projected capital needs will grow 10x once top makers cross 100,000 units - today's multi-billion rounds are 'entry tickets'.

MIIT-CCID Technology Division director Dong Kai offered a contrarian view: 'the first to capture industrialization profits will be application-delivery integrators bridging the last mile,' not model or body makers. MIIT and SASAC's June 2026 Special Action targets >100 high-value scenarios and >10,000-unit deployment capacity by year-end, pushing SOEs to open factory floors for joint deployment.
