Chinese home general-purpose robot startup Futuring Robot (未来不远) has closed a Pre-A financing round of nearly 1 billion yuan, setting a new record for the household general robotics segment. The round brings the company's total funding to three rounds within six months, underscoring intense investor interest in the consumer embodied AI space.
Joining existing investors like Yuanlai Capital, Lianxin Capital and Boyu Capital are new strategic backers including Inovance Technology's industry investment arm and Nice Group (the consumer goods giant behind Diao detergent), alongside Guofang Venture Capital, Dening Capital and nearly 10 other firms. A leading internet company also participated, according to sources close to the deal.
From Financial VC to Full Industry Chain
The structural shift in Futuring Robot's investor base is notable: earlier rounds were dominated by financial VCs, while the Pre-A round brings heavy industry players to the cap table. Inovance Technology—a 45-billion-yuan-revenue industrial automation leader with a market cap exceeding 100 billion—provides mature supply chain resources for core components like servo motors, drivers and joint modules.
Nice Group, meanwhile, brings access to hundreds of millions of Chinese households through its consumer brand portfolio. For an emerging product category like home robots, channel reach and market education capacity can be as critical as the technology itself.
500+ Households and 50,000+ Service Hours
Futuring Robot has progressed rapidly from prototype to real-world deployment:
- Jan 2026 (Angel round): 200+ households, 20,000+ service hours
- Mar 2026 (2nd round): 300+ households, 30,000+ service hours
- July 2026 (Pre-A): 500+ households, 50,000+ service hours, 96.8% satisfaction
The company operates on a rent-to-own model that lowers the barrier for consumers to try the product. Use cases include household chores, companionship, pet care and home monitoring, with robots deployed across multiple Chinese cities. This lightweight commercial approach has allowed Futuring Robot to achieve what few in the space can claim: a working business model with recurring revenue and real household data.
Technology Roadmap: From AVLA to WAM to WBC
Futuring Robot's brain architecture has gone through two generations in less than a year. The first generation used an AVLA end-to-end model, while the second generation—released in May 2026 as part of the F2 robot—introduced the WAM (World Action Model) architecture with physical simulation capabilities that let robots predict consequences before acting.
The company is now developing its third-generation brain with WBC (Whole-Body Control) plus full-modal perception learning, aiming to synchronize 22 degrees of freedom and integrate user behavior, expression, voice and emotion data for real-time adaptation.
Why Home Robots Matter for the Embodied AI Story
While most of China's 50-billion-yuan H1 2026 embodied AI funding has flowed to industrial and humanoid robot concept companies, the home market represents a fundamentally different challenge—and potentially a much larger consumer opportunity. Home environments are unstructured, user needs are fragmented, and maintenance must be minimal.
Futuring Robot's thesis is that the C-end home robot must deliver a complete experience—models, hardware, functions, price and design all matter together—which is why the company has chosen a full-stack self-research approach covering hardware, brain, cerebellum, appearance and cost control. With the Pre-A funding and new strategic shareholders, it now has the capital, supply chain backing and channel resources to scale from hundreds to tens of thousands of households.
