Kinetix AI Unveils KAI: The World's Highest-DOF Humanoid Robot with 18,000 Tactile Points

# Kinetix AI Unveils KAI: The World's Highest-DOF Humanoid Robot with 18,000 Tactile Points

**On April 26, 2026, Kinetix AI officially launched its first full-size humanoid robot "KAI" at the "GIFTED" launch event. The robot stands out with 115 degrees of freedom, 36-DOF dexterous hands, and an unprecedented 18,000 tactile sensing points.**

## A Unique Launch Format

Unlike traditional product launches, KAI did not appear as a subject being introduced. Instead, two KAI robots took the stage for a "dialogue and self-introduction," explaining their capabilities, technical approach, and product positioning autonomously.

## Three Core Technologies for Human-like Intelligence

Co-founder Tyler explained at the event: "For robots to truly integrate into the human world, they must become more human-like. We believe human physical intelligence develops through interaction with the human world. This requires three key capabilities in a closed loop—understanding the world, learning from the world, and interacting with the world."

### 1. KAI World Model: Understanding the World

The world model system at Kinetix AI has formed a closed-loop structure, consisting of the main model plus action and evaluation modules. The action module generates candidate actions based on the current state and passes them to the base model; the base model then generates future states; and the evaluation module judges the trajectory's value, including task progress and safe contact.

### 2. First-Person Dataset: Learning from the World

Kinetix AI developed the KAI Halo, a lightweight head-mounted data collection device with "one chip, eight cameras" that can complete human world data collection in one step. It records first-person perspective video and human pose with scene point cloud reconstruction. Since the device is lightweight enough for daily wear, data collection doesn't rely on scripted choreography and better reflects real scenarios.

### 3. KaiBot Body: High-Fidelity Human-like Hardware

The KAI hardware platform capabilities can be summarized across four dimensions:

| Dimension | Specification | |-----------|---------------| | **Body Shape** | 173cm height, 70kg weight, 1:8.5 head-to-body ratio | | **Body Structure** | 115 degrees of freedom, human-equivalent range of motion | | **Dexterous Hands** | 36 DOF per hand (22 control + 14 compliant) | | **Physical Capacity** | 20kg arm payload, 3-hour battery life | | **Tactile System** | 18,000 tactile points, 0.1N sensitivity |

## Three-Stage Training System

KAI employs a three-stage training paradigm:

1. **Pre-training**: Uses large-scale internet and simulation data, supplemented by self-collected first-person data 2. **Bridge Training**: Uses UMI and data gloves to supplement fine hand movements and physical contact 3. **Post-training**: Introduces real robot teleoperation data for specific scenarios to solve body alignment issues

## KAI's Vision

At the end of the launch, KAI expressed: "I was not created to搬运重物 in unmanned factories, nor to perform extreme flips on stage. I was created to walk into your living room and office, to understand your intentions, respond to your touch, and ultimately collaborate and coexist with you."
